Privacy Policy

StreetRails (streetrails.com) is run by The Bishop Way, Inc., doing business as Advally, 5165 Sherbrooke St West, Suite 500, Montreal, QC H4A 1T6, Canada. This page says what we collect, who handles it for us, how long we keep it, and how to opt out. Questions or requests go to Advally’s Data Protection and Privacy Officer at [email protected].
What we collect
- Server logs. Every request records your IP address, the page, the time, your browser’s user agent and the page you came from. We use them to keep the site running and to stop abuse.
- Accounts. If you sign up, we keep your username, email address, password (hashed, never readable) and anything you add to your profile.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe to the weekly email, we keep your email address and when you confirmed. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops the email at once.
- What you post. Rails, clips, votes and replies you submit are public and tied to your account.
- Cookies. WordPress sets cookies to keep you signed in. Security and caching tools set cookies to tell people from bots. Once ads run, ad partners set cookies too (see below).
We don’t sell your personal data.
Who handles it for us
- DigitalOcean hosts the site and its backups (privacy policy).
- Cloudflare delivers every page, screens traffic for attacks and bots, and counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies (privacy policy).
- Mailgun sends account and notification email (privacy policy).
- Wordfence (Defiant) checks sign-ins and requests against known attacks (privacy policy).
- Gravatar (Automattic) shows profile pictures next to comments, using a hash of your email address (privacy policy).
- OpenStreetMap serves map tiles on pages with a map, so it receives your IP address when the map loads (privacy policy).
- Embedded video. Clips play from the service they were uploaded to, such as YouTube, Vimeo or Instagram. That service sees you when the clip loads, under its own privacy policy.
Advertising
StreetRails doesn’t show ads yet. When it does, Advally will serve them through Google Ad Manager, and we’ll list every other ad partner here before the first ad appears.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
How to opt out of personalized ads
- Turn off personalized ads from Google in My Ad Center.
- Opt out of other vendors’ personalized ads at aboutads.info (US), the NAI opt-out page, or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe and the UK).
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. You’ll stay signed out and still see ads, but they won’t be personalized.
How long we keep it
- Web server logs: 90 days, on the server and in our separate log archive. System logs: 13 weeks.
- Backups: nightly backups are deleted after 14 days. Our host’s daily backups roll off within four weeks.
- Accounts and posts: until you delete them or ask us to. Removed content leaves our backups when those backups expire.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent. Email [email protected] and we’ll answer within 30 days. Advally’s full privacy policy covers the laws we follow and transfers outside your country.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
